Pineapples were originally discovered in 1493 on Guadeloupe Island in the Caribbean. The fruit was named “piña” by the Spaniards since its appearance resembled that of a pinecone. The ending “apple” was soon added by the English in order to associate it with the other fruits available. Today, we refer to the sweet and juicy fruit as a “pineapple”!

Chiquita is one of the great companies that provide us with the delicious tropical fruit!  Did you know it takes 18 months to grow a single pineapple?

This tropical fruit is packed with numerous vitamins and minerals that are essential for our health. Pineapples are an excellent source of Vitamin C, which helps develop healthy skin and bones. Along with their nutritional benefits, pineapples are GREAT for cooking, snacking, and smoothies!
