I love turnips!

You don’t hear that very often, huh?  It’s not that people dislike turnips… it’s that most people have never had one!  That’s silly because this root veggie not only tastes great, but it’s full of guilt-free nutrition too!

1 cup of turnips has LESS than 60 calories & only 1 gram of fat.  Plus, you’re talking just 2g of natural sugar, 8g of carbohydrates, 5g of dietary fiber & 5g of protein!  Turnips are also full of vitamins & minerals – notably, Vitamins A, C & K.  And let’s not forget the fact that they are ALWAYS very affordable.  Eat more turnips.  Have more money for shoes. 🙂

I’m always watching my carbs, yet craving starchy foods.  It’s annoying, but just 1 of the reasons turnips are an easy favorite & a Produce Mom Pick!  If you are diabetic, a paleo diet disciple, or maybe just someone who is super mindful of what you eat– you get it.  This root vegetable rocks!!!!

My favorite way to prepare turnips is to oven roast them.  An easy recipe follows—enjoy!

STEP 1 = Peel the Turnip

STEP 3: slice into 1" cubes

STEP 5: Create a single layer on baking sheet.  Oven roast at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until turnips are a golden brown

Instructions
