“12 Grapes of Luck” is a Spanish tradition dating back to the early 1900s.

Did you know that eating 12 grapes at midnight on New Year’s Eve is good luck? This Spanish tradition, which dates back the early 1900s, consists of eating one grape with each bell strike at midnight. It has been adopted by many Latin American countries, Mexico, and is becoming increasingly popular in the United States.

The legend goes that eating 12 grapes at midnight will help bring you prosperity in the new year. That’d certainly be nice, but we really just like this tradition because it’s fun, festive, and family-friendly.

Have fun ringing in the New Year with grapes!
